Nortegas H2SAREA Project
Tour 1 participants will visit the H2S area project, which aims to promote the safe utilization of hydrogen in the natural gas distribution network as a means to decarbonize the existing natural gas distribution system.
This includes the integration of other renewable gases such as biomethane ore-methane (synthetic gas) generated from renewable sources. The ultimate goal is to decarbonize the consumers currently supplied by the distribution network.
One of the primary objectives of the project is to investigate the behavior of the current natural gas distribution network with incremental percentages of hydrogen, reaching up to 20% in the initial phase. During this phase, the mixture of hydrogen and natural gas is designed not to alter the gases, ensuring that the blend behaves in a manner similar to natural gas. Subsequently, in a second phase, the plan is to further increase the hydrogen percentage up to 100%.

Nortegas is a Spanish energy group that provides natural gas and LPG to both companies and individuals. The company conducts gas distribution activities through a network spanning over 8,000 km in the spanish autonomous communities of the Basque Country, Asturias, and Cantabria.
USEFUL INFORMATION
The tour will consist of a 30-minute presentation of the project, located in Zamudio. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the project on-site in slots of 15 minutes per group.
