MARIBEL RODRÍGUEZ OLMO

Head of the hydrogen business. Energy transition.

Maribel Rodríguez holds a degree in Forest Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and an MBA from EAE Business School and Rovira i Virgili University. Her professional career has focused on innovation and technological development in renewable hydrogen, as well as the application of low‑carbon energy technologies in the industrial sector.

She began her career in 2007 at Ariema Energía y Medioambiente, an SME pioneering in R&D&I across the green hydrogen value chain, where she worked as a project technologist. In 2014, she became the company’s deputy director. Throughout her career, she has taken part in more than 35 R&D&I projects funded by the European Union and the Government of Spain, all focused on the deployment of green hydrogen technologies in industry.

Maribel has led the technical coordination of multiple public‑private collaboration initiatives, driving the activities of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Platform, the Spanish Hydrogen Association, the Water Technology Platform, and the Hydrogen TCP of the International Energy Agency.

In 2011, she represented the International Energy Innovation Unit, maintaining until 2014 the project office funded by CDTI to support business participation in European R&D&I projects. In 2017, she began collaborating with the European Commission as an external evaluator for SME Instrument proposals, assessing innovative business ideas based on clean energy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

In 2021, she joined Fotowatio Renewables Ventures as a business development manager for green hydrogen initiatives.
Since November 2021, she has been part of Repsol’s Hydrogen Division, leading global hydrogen business development. In 2024, she was appointed Hydrogen Director at Repsol.

Esben Balter Nielsen leads sales and business development at Stiesdal Hydrogen. He has extensive experience in renewable energy, sales management, business development, and public affairs. Esben has held senior roles at Vattenfall, spearheading electrification solutions for industry and transport, and has served on key industry boards, including Wind Denmark.

Electricity is the main cost driver, so reducing LCOH requires supplying electrolyzers with the cheapest power available. This means direct connection to renewables off-grid and operating during profitable windows when grid-connected— an approach enabled by H2Pro’s DWE

Carolina joined bp in 2012 and has had a variety of roles covering Business Development, Commercial and Planning across Group, Upstream and Solar. As Vice President of Hydrogen for Europe and the Middle East and North Africa, she currently manages the Hydrogen business in these regions. Prior to joining bp, she spent her career in M&A and Private Equity, covering a number of different industries, including Energy.

JESÚS MANUEL GIL JIMÉNEZ

Hydrogen Infraestructures Director

Mechanical Engineer and Industrial Organization Engineer by the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the European University of Madrid. Master’s degree in Energy Business and Project Management by the Business School of Energy in Madrid. Pd.D. by IESE Business School (Universidad de Navarra). Fellow of Sloan School of Business, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), PMP by PMI and Certified Energy Manager (CEM) by AEE. He joined Enagas in 1998, and since then he has held several positions of responsibility and leadership in the company for more than 26 years, more than 30 years working in the energy sector, the last 10 years involved in the development of green molecules. Nowadays he is leading the Hydrogen Direction inside Energy Transition Division, Enagas SA. Representative member in the principal Lobby and Stakeholders Organizations related to Green Hydrogen and Renewable Gases in Spain and Europe.
Total experience in the energy sector for more than 30 years.

JUAN PABLO ZÚÑIGA

Director of engineering

Juan Pablo is Global Director of Engineering and Digital Solutions at Hinicio. Since 2018, he has been involved in the development of hydrogen projects internationally, working at the intersection of regulation, engineering, and market, with a focus on project structuring and defining viable business models. He was one of the founders of Hinicio’s Chile office and later led the offices in Colombia and the USA. He currently heads the engineering area from Madrid.

He is also a co-founder of the Chilean Hydrogen Association, where he served as executive director in its early years, contributing to the development of the ecosystem and positioning Chile in the hydrogen industry

JOAQUÍN RODRIGUEZ

Director of Hydrogen & Clean Energies

Joaquín Rodriguez joined the Moeve, formerly Cepsa, team in 2022 as Director of Hydrogen & Clean Energies after seven years as Director of Business Development at Fisterra Energy, a Blackstone portfolio company, where he was responsible for developing a portfolio of green hydrogen projects with a total capacity of 2 GW in the Middle East and North Africa. At Fisterra he was also responsible for developing renewable power generation assets in Mexico and for setting up a supply company in Mexico called Ektria, the first private and independent retailer of energy in that country.

Prior to Fisterra, Joaquín spent two decades in leadership roles at the Endesa Group, including most recently as Country Manager, Iberian Peninsula and Director of Business Development, EMEA, for Enel Green Power and Director of Strategy, Business Development and M&A for Endesa. Other roles at Endesa included Director of Energy Management, Managing Director of Trading and Risk Management Director, as well as Treasury Manager & Structured Finance of Endesa’s international division.

He has also served as a senior advisor to Private Equity and Infrastructure Funds including Macquarie, JP Morgan Asset Management, TCI and Blackstone on the Mexican energy market.

Franz Loogen has been President of the State Agency for New Mobility Solutions and Automotive, e-mobil BW since 2010. Before then he had been working in the automotive industry for twenty years. His professional career took him along the entire automotive added-value chain. Franz Loogen campaigns for the further development of climate-friendly mobility solutions. His focus here is on modern drives, regenerative energy technology, digital solutions and social developments.

Technical Head Fuel Cell Business and Value Chain

Final investment decisions for hydrogen projects are increasing globally, incl. hydrogen mobility. In mobility we are facing the challenge to align hydrogen vehicles, infrastructure and a TCO that is attractive for customers at the same time and at the same place. We are seeing different implementation speed globally depending on the political framework. This presentation will share some of the success stories and will also outline the contribution that Toyota is making to progress in the development of a Hydrogen Society.

Holder of several patents registered with the companies I worked for in Germany.

Dr. Klaas Kunze graduated in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Munich and the Ecole Centrale Paris in 1997. From 1997 to 1999 he was with Siemens Power Generation working on Combined Cycle Power Plant projects. From 1999 till 2004 he did his PhD thesis at the chair of thermodynamics of the Technical University of Munich, with the subject of gas turbine combustion design. In 2004 he joined the BMW Group as an development engineer, in 2014 he took over the responsibility for the hydrogen storage system development

Amparo López Senovilla is Spain’s Secretary of State for Trade and President of ICEX, a position she has held since May 2024. Riad has twenty-five years of experience in sustainable development and economics, focusing on technical cooperation and policy advisory support to governments in Africa, Arab States, and Asia and Pacific regions and is currently a Senior Principal Advisor on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), in the Bureau for Policy and Program Support/Global Policy Network. Prior to joining UNDP, Riad was an Economist at the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), working on international trade and foreign direct investment, and at the International Labor Organization (ILO) on the impact of technology and job generation in developing countries. He has worked with the private sector and lectured at the University of Paris V. 

Over the past years at UNDP, Riad has worked closely with the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), on critical issues related to the implementation of SDGs and SAMOA Pathway in SIDS, including how to capitalize on digital transformation for SIDS.

Ms Duyan brings an extensive track record of expertise in analysing technological solutions and policies towards achieving climate and energy transition goals. She has been acting as a consultant and project manager with diverse teams across industry, governments, and non-profit organizations world-wide.

DANIEL FRAILE

Hydrogen Europe

Daniel Fraile is Chief Policy and Market Officer at Hydrogen Europe where he leads the policy and market intelligence work of the association. He has 20 years of experience on energy policy, renewable energy technologies, Hydrogen and international cooperation. He is an engineer with a masters on telecommunications and a Masters in renewable energy. Today, he is leading the Hydrogen Europe policy work, leading a team of analysts and policy specialists. Before, Daniel had been Director of Market Intelligence at WindEurope, where he worked for 7 years leading the market research and leading several policy topics such as system integration and hydrogen. Previously, Daniel has worked on strategic management consulting in the Power to gas sector, has worked for Solar Power Europe, for the environmental NGO CAN-Europe and for the Spanish utility Iberdrola.

AYFER VEZIROĞLU

President and CFO

International Association for Hydrogen Energy

Ayfer Veziroğlu is a renowned expert in hydrogen transportation systems and currently serves as the President and CFO of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE). She holds a Ph.D. in hydrogen-powered transportation systems from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal, completed in 2013. She has made significant contributions to the field, publishing extensively on hydrogen energy and delivering numerous talks at international conferences. In addition to her leadership role at IAHE, she is the president of the Hydrogen Energy Publication, the financial manager for the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, and a trustee for the Turhan Nejat Veziroglu World Hydrogen Energy Trust. She earned her Bachelor of Science in International Business and Marketing from Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1999. Recently, Ayfer Veziroglu established the Dr. T. Nejat Veziroglu Endowed Fellowship for Ph.D. students in mechanical and aerospace engineering who focus on hydrogen energy and related fields, honoring Veziroglu’s legacy and pioneering research at the University of Miami.

He has more than 14 years of professional experience in the public sector, holding senior management positions in highly relevant institutions such as the Bogotá City Council, the District Institute for Participation and Community Action (IDPAC), the Senate of the Republic, and the Special Assets Society (SAE). His experience has focused on legal and administrative management, with a strategic emphasis on institutional strengthening and operational efficiency.

He possesses extensive knowledge in public procurement, human talent management, administration of physical assets, and public finance.

Sven Schuppener is a Hydrogen Expert at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), where he contributes to the Global Programme for Hydrogen in Industry and supports developing countries in advancing sustainable hydrogen solutions. His work focuses on green hydrogen industrial clusters, hydrogen policy development, and international partnerships, including UNIDO’s initiatives on standards, skills, and innovation for a just hydrogen transition. He has represented UNIDO in international conferences and knowledge-sharing events, delivering insights on green hydrogen pathways and sustainable industrial development.

JENS GEIER

Member of the European Parliament

Jens Geier is a Member of the European Parliament, serving since 2009 within the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). He currently works on industrial policy, energy, and budgetary affairs, with a particular focus on the green transition and Europe’s strategic competitiveness. Over his parliamentary career, he has held several key positions, including Chair of the Committee on Budgetary Control and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE). Before joining the European Parliament, he worked in public administration and for several German political institutions, gaining extensive experience in European policy, communications, and strategic planning.

He joined Enagas in 1998, and since then he has held several positions of responsibility and leadership in the company for more than 26 years, more than 30 years working in the energy sector, the last 10 years involved in the development of green molecules. Nowadays he is leading the Hydrogen Direction inside Energy Transition Division, Enagas SA. Representative member in the principal Lobby and Stakeholders Organizations related to Green Hydrogen and Renewable Gases in Spain and Europe.

JUAN PABLO ZÚÑIGA

Juan Pablo is Global Director of Engineering and Digital Solutions at Hinicio. Since 2018, he has been involved in the development of hydrogen projects internationally, working at the intersection of regulation, engineering, and market, with a focus on project structuring and defining viable business models. He was one of the founders of Hinicio’s Chile office and later led the offices in Colombia and the USA. He currently heads the engineering area from Madrid.

He is also a co-founder of the Chilean Hydrogen Association, where he served as executive director in its early years, contributing to the development of the ecosystem and positioning Chile in the hydrogen industry

JOAQUÍN RODRIGUEZ

Joaquín Rodriguez joined the Moeve, formerly Cepsa, team in 2022 as Director of Hydrogen & Clean Energies after seven years as Director of Business Development at Fisterra Energy, a Blackstone portfolio company, where he was responsible for developing a portfolio of green hydrogen projects with a total capacity of 2 GW in the Middle East and North Africa. At Fisterra he was also responsible for developing renewable power generation assets in Mexico and for setting up a supply company in Mexico called Ektria, the first private and independent retailer of energy in that country.

Prior to Fisterra, Joaquín spent two decades in leadership roles at the Endesa Group, including most recently as Country Manager, Iberian Peninsula and Director of Business Development, EMEA, for Enel Green Power and Director of Strategy, Business Development and M&A for Endesa. Other roles at Endesa included Director of Energy Management, Managing Director of Trading and Risk Management Director, as well as Treasury Manager & Structured Finance of Endesa’s international division.

He has also served as a senior advisor to Private Equity and Infrastructure Funds including Macquarie, JP Morgan Asset Management, TCI and Blackstone on the Mexican energy market.

AYFER VEZIROĞLU

Ayfer Veziroğlu is a renowned expert in hydrogen transportation systems and currently serves as the President and CFO of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE). She holds a Ph.D. in hydrogen-powered transportation systems from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal, completed in 2013. She has made significant contributions to the field, publishing extensively on hydrogen energy and delivering numerous talks at international conferences. In addition to her leadership role at IAHE, she is the president of the Hydrogen Energy Publication, the financial manager for the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, and a trustee for the Turhan Nejat Veziroglu World Hydrogen Energy Trust. She earned her Bachelor of Science in International Business and Marketing from Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1999. Recently, Ayfer Veziroglu established the Dr. T. Nejat Veziroglu Endowed Fellowship for Ph.D. students in mechanical and aerospace engineering who focus on hydrogen energy and related fields, honoring Veziroglu’s legacy and pioneering research at the University of Miami.

Jens Geier is a Member of the European Parliament, serving since 2009 within the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). He currently works on industrial policy, energy, and budgetary affairs, with a particular focus on the green transition and Europe’s strategic competitiveness. Over his parliamentary career, he has held several key positions, including Chair of the Committee on Budgetary Control and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE).
